Upstairs fun

Zack and Drew playing in Zack's room. They have lots of fun in there. There are so many things to play with from balls, stuffed animals, tents, and tunnels.

Zack is getting pretty good at throwing and can every once and a while catch.

Drew loves to chase Zack in the tents and tunnels.

Zack loves to take all the toys out of the upstairs entertainment center and play inside.

Zack trying to close the door.

Texas Independence Relay

Matt's crazy relay race from last week. I uploaded the photos and Matt is going to comment on them later. So look again later and maybe Matt will have commented.

At the top we have Roger's Pizza. One of our team members found out a cat had recently got trapped in the bathroom wall. It was fine but only 1 of a few places actually open at 8pm on a Friday night. One of a few reasons I don't think I'd be ok with living in a small town.

We thought this was one of the best dressed teams. They didn't run the race this way though. It was hard to ID them during the race. We lost to them by just a few seconds.

Our team of 8 to run 203 miles.

The 1st leg is run together as a team.

The finish at San Jacinto.

We finish as a team also.

We had 'bullet holes' and 'kills' on our car. They represented people that passed us and those that we passed while we raced. We ended up with about a 2:1 ratio of kills:bullets.

You got a choice of starting off with a cannon blast or a gong (if the cannon wasn't ready from the last team's start). The cannon was blasting from 6 am to 1 pm on Saturday.

This was similar to the RAGNAR race I did with 9 other friends 1 1/2 years ago. I ran a lot more that time (33 miles) than this time (20 miles). But I ran those 20 miles a whole minute faster (per mile) than last time (ended up being an average of 6:50 pace). It was a ton of fun. I got to meet 7 new people (I just joined a team that needed another runner instead of forming a team of my own). There's something about spending an entire weekend together (most of it awake as you don't sleep much during the race- I think I got a whole hour) with other crazy people who love running as much as you do that forms a nice bond.

Fun at our zoo

What a sad face. I was at work, Matt was cleaning our bedroom closet, and the boys were playing on the bed. Zack was jumping around and threw all of our pillows into a pile on the floor. At some point, Drew decided to test out the pile. I guess it was not as soft as he thought it would be.

Zack sleeping on the pile of pillows.

Matt posted earlier about running 26 miles around the track. I took the boys over after breakfast in the bike trailer. I had brought the croquet set and a soccer ball along for the boys to play with. Zack wanted to play with the croquet ball and this is what he did with them. I was very impressed. It was not the easiest thing to get them to balance on the tops of those bolts.

So happy to be at the park.

Drew's first time in the swing by himself.

Is this a cat tower or a kid tower? Zack thinks it is cool that he can climb to the top and is watching a movie.

All 13.

Mr. Trouble. Drew tries to get into everything. Zack will take the cushions off the couch to jump on. This makes the couch the right height for Drew to crawl up. Then Drew can get to the laptop.

Drew thinking he is so cool sitting on the couch.

Fun for both. Zack loves climbing on the higher ones and Drew loves playing on the lower ones.

Crawling and more

What a big baby. Oh wait that is the 2 year old. One day when I went to get Drew out of bed I put Zack in with him. The next time Zack came up with me he thought he needed to get in again and was not willing to go when we were. So Drew and I left him to play in the crib.

Zack with his skeleton jacket and Astros hat and the most important toy- his 'woo woo block' (which is a Peekaboo block that has a train inside and he ALWAYS needs it).

Drew crawling up the first stair. It has started; he is super mobile.

We were waiting for Rose and Carl to come pick us up so we could take them to the airport. I had the car seats in the house so they would be ready when they came. Drew and Zack decided that it would be fun to watch TV in them.

Zack being ornery because I would not give him the camera. Matt and I have decided that for his birthday he is getting his own.

Missy trying to get Zack's balloon. Sometimes she would get the string and pull it across the room. It was pretty funny.

Drew and a basket of toys.

Two boys in a tub.

Drew, Chloe, and I in front of the flags on a very windy day. Texas is the only state that flies their state flag at the same height as the American flag. As long as the US flag is on the left, it doesn't matter. But it seems as though Texas is the only one who actually does this (as the state flag is everywhere- quite literally).

Bath, Park, & Cats

The boys love taking baths together. They have so much fun splashing and playing with all the tub toys. They have to have all the toys in the tub. If you only put in a few, Zack will make sure they all get in one way or another.

Matt and Chloe doing what Texans get to do all year round: Grill.

Chloe, Drew and I in front of a drainage ditch. We have these everywhere. They are to help when we have big rain storms or hurricanes. This way we do not end up flooded.

Zack catching Drew and me.

Zack catching Drew. We are at the park at our friend Rose's subdivision.

Drew on the slide.

Well we were without our car for 38 days. Don't worry; we found ways to get places. Matt bikes to work, I got called off a few times, and we have great friends that would lend us their car or cart us around. Thanks a lot Rose, Xan, and Josh. We also used the bikes and trailer to go some of the shorter distances. Matt, Chloe, Drew and Zack on the overpass near our house. In Houston, we do not have hills, so the highest places are overpasses.

Matt is a good horse.
