Good to be home

A little of what Drew has to put up with.

Zack and Josh playing the piano.

Drew sleeping on the couch.

Two of a kind. Zack needed a hair cut so I asked him if he wanted one like daddy's. He said "Yes" and Matt asked me "Really?" So I did it.

Not sure he liked it with out a cover on it.

Drew enjoying his chair and Zack trying to steal all of his toys.

Chicago July 23rd-25th

We ended our three and a half week vacation in Chicago. Matt wanted to see a Cubs game so we did that the afternoon before we flew out. The game was fun. When we bought our tickets, they did not have two seats together. So Zack and Matt sat together. Then I had Drew. We were in the same section just 5 rows apart. I took a potty break. That left Matt with both the boys and Drew was not happy and he screamed the whole 10 minutes. When I got back, one of the ushers made it so I was sitting next to Matt and Zack. We left the game about after one out in the top of the 9th. Matt never likes leaving games early, but, it was a good thing. We got to the hotel at 4:25 and got our bags. The hotel held onto them for us since we had to check out and could not really take them to the game. The next shuttle to the airport was at 4:35. About 4:40 we left for the airport and arrived there at 4:50. We went to check in and the guy informed us that our seats were in the emergency exit row. (How this happened when we got the tickets online and stated that we had little kids with us, I don't know.) Since we had the kids we could not sit there. He could not fix it for us, so we would have to tell them at the gate. After five minutes with him, we went on to security. We gave them our tickets and IDs. I have never had anyone look at them for so long. He took out his little blue light and looked at them as though they were fake (which is fine, but he looked for a long time). He asked us some questions and then called someone else over. After 5 minutes with him we went on to have the bags scanned. We got all the way through but then we had forgot that we had water, juice, and Zack's sippy in the diaper bag. So they had to search and test what we had. After they tested Zack's sippy, Zack picked it up and started drinking it. By this time it was at least 5. Oh, by the way, did I say that our flight was to leave at 5:10? I was about to lose it on someone so Matt sent me ahead with the boys. When Matt was done he came and scooped up Zack and we ran for the gate. Luckily, there were still 5 people at the gate (and we were one of the first gates in the terminal). Matt went to the counter so they could get us new seats. Of course they did not have three together. There were two across the isle from each other and then one by the window about 3 rows back. They had put Zack in the one by himself next to the window. Well, Matt and I knew that Zack had not had a nap all day and being by himself would not go over well. So, I took the one by itself. That put Zack and Matt across the aisle from each other. This did not go over well since they do not like car seats on the aisle (they're hard to get around in case of an emergency). They had 4 different flight attendants talk with Matt about it. For some reason they thought Matt should be the one to ask others to move. The people next to Zack were okay with Zack being there and finally we took off. We left about a half hour late and still made it into Houston early.

Matt and Zack's seats were literally right next to the fence, which gave Zack a lot of room to walk around. Plus, one of the train lines was visible from our seats, so Zack constantly told me when another woo woo came by.

The Cubs beat the Reds 5-3. Amy was hungry before the game and we actually ate at Taco Bell so we didn't have to spend a ton of money inside.

Top of the John Hancock building (94 floors up). The elevator took us up at 20 mph and you didn't even get that roller coaster feeling in your stomach. We were at the top in less than a minute. Matt's school's elevator takes 45 seconds to go 1 floor.

Riding the train, or as Zack calls it the Woo Woo.

Zack's fort in the hotel room. They provided us with the pack and play.

Stop at Sunset Lake in Wisconsin

We stopped by one of the lakes on our way back from the cottage. We found a ropes course on our little hike.

Matt swimming across the lake. He made it about half way and decided that was good. Then he swam to the shore.

The boys in the water. I stayed in the car to feed Drew while Zack was napping.

The cottage in Wisconsin

While we were at the cottage (cabin), Matt's uncle mentioned that the shingles needed to be trimmed. So the boys decided to do it for him. The only thing was we did not have the proper tools for the job (like a ladder and something to easily cut the shingles). Chris is standing on the railing to cut the shingles.

Grandma and Zack watching the boys on the roof.

Amy, Zack, and Drew watching it all go on.

I did not bring a big blanket for Drew. So he got to wear Matt's sweatshirt.

Jon on the roof.

The room we slept in. The cottage only has one bedroom, so that is where we slept. Everyone else slept in the family room and kitchen.

Anthony on the roof.

Zack fell while running away from people taking his picture. They wanted a picture of him in Jon's Raiders hat.

Zack being cute.

Anthony and Zack checking out the paddle boat.

We went swimming at the hotel pool where Matt's parents were staying.

Matt trying to teach Zack to hold his breath and go under water. It didn't work at all, but he still went all the way under many times.

Mall of America July 15th

Lego land.

Zack did not want his picture taken.

Amy and Drew at Legoland.

Matt and Zack on the log ride. It was the biggest ride he was allowed to go on as he's much too short to go on the roller coasters, even with an adult.

Matt and Zack with a Lego storm trooper.

Zack did not like getting off any of the rides.
Matt and Zack on the log ride. You can not really see or hear Zack crying. Drew was mad enough for the both of them. As you can hear.
